Gerald McCush, the Director of Community Development for the City presented at our lunch meeting this week, informing us about his programs funneling HUD money into our city for people and agencies that need it the most. For qualifying citizens who need help repairing or weatherizing their home, funds or loans are available on deferred payment with no interest or a grant to upgrade their heating or air conditioning, add insulation or new windows or doors. Mr. McCush encourages us to spread the word about the Emergency Assistance Program, used by seniors or low income families to fix major home damage or repair critical items. It is obvious that Mr. McCush truly has a passion for helping people; he goes above and beyond to ensure that children, families, and elderly residents receive help during times of need.
